  When installing this, a bunch of add-ons are going to go on your computer by default. Even though you can 'choose' not to install these, I'd be wary of installing this at all. It's total bullcrap that they try to push junk-ware down our throats. I'd recommend just moving on and forget these loser-developers.

  Pros

  I used VXSearch on the PC and since I've switched to the MAC, I tried to find something comparable. This tool is even better! The interface is awesome, and it's super fast.

  Easy to install, easy to use, did the job and found the lurking program that I had not been able to find and uninstall.

  Cons

  Summary

  If you need to locate a file or folder that evades discovery, this is the tool to try. I had installed a program onto my MacBook that really messed it up; uninstalling was a real trick since it did not appear anyplace that I could spot it, there was no uninstall program with it or at least not one that I could ever locate. This product worked just as it was advertised to and was a fast, free way to kick that troublesome program off my system.

  I invariably use EasyFind instead of Spotlight. Does the job much better.

  Cons

  I wish there were some way of indicating where the actual program I'm looking for is located. If I look for Java Script,say,I get dozens of locations. But where is the one that will actually tell me where Java Script itself is located?

  Finds everything! I keep it in my dock and click to find by keyword. Sure beats Spotlight!

  Cons

  I couldnt figure out how to search for a specific date that files were modified. I'm not sure if there's a way, but I havent found it yet.

  Summary

  The in-depth search features may be a little confusing if you dont know how to search boolean, but since it's optional, it wont affect anything if you dont use it. The help menu explains how, if you find the need to search with wildcard characters

  Pros

  It can search in any variety of places. One easy option is to search the active finder window (the one in front). Of course, it will search all that window's subfolders too. I have this app dragged and dropped onto the toolbar of finder windows. When I want to search, it is all too easy to click it there.

  Fast and very flexible and logically customizable. It can search for hidden system files

  it's a bit slower than Spotlight but then again, the idea is different

  Summary

  I use it a lot to find 'space hogs'. For example, if I am searching a whole disk, I can make the criteria the '*' wild card and then order the results by size. I don't know of any other alternative program that can achieve this.
