• Warning! Acronis Destroys Your Computer!

  Pros

  It will backup your files - no problem. The problem begins when you try to restore the your PC to the way it was previously.

  I restored my desktop to a previous date using Acronis True Image. "Restore was Successful " appeared after several hours; however Windows 10 did not boot up and the following message appeared each and every time: NTLDR is missing, Press Alt-Ctrl-Del to Restart. I inserted the Acronis Emergency Boot disk, Windows Repair disc , and even a self-boot Windows 10 image hoping to hit Repair when it boot up, but the PC did not boot up normally. As instructed by Acronis and Microsoft Tech Support, I changed the BIOS to boot from the CD Ram (more than 100 times) and the program did save the changes. Acronis Tech Support in tried to help me in various occasions unsuccessfully.

  Summary

  After many days wasting precious time, a manager at Acronis in India said that probably there is a problem with the hardware. This is absurd because when I replace the bad hard drive with an old one running Windows XT, the computer runs fine. Obviously there is a bug in the program because the message "Restore was Successful" should not appear when errors exist. I offered to send them the actual hard drive so that their technicians can figure out what is wrong with the program, develop a correction and create a patch or update- they did not care Acronis does not stand behind the software - you are own your own when Acronis fails to perform - obviously there is an error in the restore program DON'T BE A VICTIM??..DO NOT BUY ACRONIS!

  Let me add to the list of down-votes for this POS software. I started using Acronis TrueImage Home (ATIH) back in 2009 and it worked well enough. I then "upgraded to 2016" and it too worked well for awhile. When it started crashing inexplicably and not doing backups, I did a full disable antivirus, uninstall, reboot, reinstall. Now when creating a new backup plan, it (ATIH) crashes when enumerating directories/files on source or when selecting NAS directories. Support suggested a few things, like "Can we access your system? ... Um, NO!" then "Please end us your logs and a video." No thanks. I want backup software that simply works... it's hard enough to keep backups going reliably without having to jump through hoops. Definitely DO NOT use this software.

  Difficult to set it the way YOU want it Zero help with restore no backup log

  Summary

  If all you want is a backup, and never expect a disaster (and thus) want to restore it's fine.

  Pros

  As it crashed my computer at the first attempt to make a backup, I didn't get a chance to see any pros!

  Cons

  My experience was too dreadful (and scary) to even try to make a list. It needed to be something I could have 100% confidence in, but as others have said, it somehow causes (for some of us at least) crashes and even locks us out of our computer due to a loop it seems to cause. I have made my views known to Acronis and they have agreed to a full refund ... but the £20 cost hadly scratches the £1000+ time costs I lost in sorting out the mess the software caused. ...

  Summary

  ... some people might say that I (and others) were unlucky and even suggest that it may not have been Acronis that caused the crash, but my experience is so similar to others on here, it's hard to see it any other way. ... For pity's sake ... it's only supposed to be making backups ... how can it possibly mess up one's computer, you might ask .... but that's just what it did (and not just for me).

  poor layout, not intuitive. often received erroneous reads on my backups, saying they are invalid when they are not. Problematic. Poor customer support.

  prefer norton ghost of old, then probably macrum reflect.

• Caused computer to freeze

  Attempted to use Acronis provided by Crucial to clone my new ssd. Program caused my windows 10 computer to freeze, upon reboot system was unstable, second reboot fixed it.

  Summary

  Ended up using Easis free cloning program, it did a good job.

  very buggy, hangs system, and locks drive so it is unusable and data inaccessible, refuses to start, hangs in a loop, then uninstall fails to run too. Worst software I have tried to use in 25 years. support acknowledge problems but gave up trying to help and disappeared

  Unfortunately, no "pros".

  Cons

  Confusing, slow and buggy. Overall, I was frustrated and felt no confidence that I'd be able to restore my system with Acronis. I'm now using "Casper 10" which makes a perfect, bootable clone of my entire system drive in about an hour. Takes about 3 clicks to get it started. As for support, you'll get a detailed reply from the developer within a few hours. How can you beat that?

  Pros

  I didn't find anything unique or better in Acronis True Image. It's has a cumbersome backup structure which is confusing and inefficient

  Cons

  The backup stopped working after saving 30 GB, and the sync was hogging my entire PC, I couldn't use my pc . I called the helpdesk but they asked to pay for support. I sent several emails also but received a useless response after days. Two weeks later, I was still struggling to get help. I asked for refund but they refused. Eventually I had to abandon the backup and deleted the software. My lost at Acronis gain - they made the profit so they don't care what happen thereafter.

  Summary

  Better to avoid and not waste money on the Acronis Image software. I wasted a lot of time trying to fix the bug in their product and the support was inexperienced and unhelpful. They can easily go into your folder to see your archives, and there is no sense of security. Better avoid before too late

  Was extremely slow to get going, then bombed out when trying to backup to USB hard drive. Before failing, indicated that backing up aout 40 GB would take 12 hours
